I have a Minolta laser printer and when it prints there are spots on the page with no toner. Why?

They are small spots, just a couple of letters missing. Not always in the same place on the page. It's a new toner cartridge, the replacemant for the one that came with the machine, so it has very little use. I've tried shaking it and that doesn't help. THanks for your help. If your printer is still under warranty, I'd take it in for service. Don't attempt to repair it yourself. Look on Minolta's website for the nearest service center or refer to you user guide/manual.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT use warm or hot water to wash tonner off your hands since toner is heat activated.
